The kettle, which swings over from rounded depression on left, was designed to heat wine over the fire. The hearth consists of a giant boulder that rises nearly 10" from the waxed flagstone floor. It anchors the massive chimney that contains 5 flues for various fireplaces and an oil-fired boiler.
